Arrival in Roccascalegna and welcome at the charming B&Bs of the Artisan Village, where the warm and authentic atmosphere immediately makes you feel part of local life.
The tour begins with a guided visit to the Medieval Castle of Roccascalegna, an impressive fortress overlooking the Rio Secco Valley — a place steeped in history, legends, and mystery. Next, enjoy a live cooking show at the Agriturismo “Il Vecchio Moro”, where Tonino and Amalia will guide you through the traditional art of Abruzzese cooking, preparing homemade egg pasta and the famous “ferratelle” waffles.
After lunch at the farmhouse, the afternoon is free to explore the fortified village, visit its churches and narrow medieval alleys, or discover the nearby village of Gessopalena, built entirely on gypsum rock.
For adventure lovers, there’s also the option of a trek through the Fara San Martino Gorges, surrounded by 30-meter-high limestone walls and narrow passages.
The day ends with a tasting dinner at the Delphìn Brewery TapRoom, featuring craft beers, traditional arrosticini, pallotte cace e ove, and other local specialties.
Overnight stay at the Artisan Village.
A full day dedicated to nature, tradition, and the authentic flavors of Abruzzo, with activities that change according to the season:
- October / November: participate in the olive harvest and enjoy a convivial lunch in the countryside.
