Embark on an exciting stage of your bike journey along the Camino de Santiago, tackling the ascent to O Cebreiro. The day begins in Lugo, a historic city in Galicia, and takes you through picturesque rural landscapes to the charming medieval village of O Cebreiro, situated at an altitude of 1,300 meters. Although the climb is challenging, the panoramic views make every effort worthwhile. Upon arrival, discover the pallozas, ancient roundhouses with thatched roofs, and visit the pre-Romanesque temple of Santa María la Real, which houses the famous Chalice of the Holy Miracle and a fine Romanesque wooden sculpture, one of the most sacred places on the Camino de Santiago. Dinner is on your own, followed by an overnight stay.
Departure for an exciting stage of the Camino de Santiago by bike, starting with a beautiful descent from O Cebreiro and a flat route towards Portomarín. After the scenic descent, the relaxing journey will take you to Portomarín, one of the most historic towns on the Camino, founded in Roman times and an important stop during the Middle Ages. Discover the historical treasures of Portomarín, where the ancient village has been meticulously transferred stone by stone due to the creation of an artificial reservoir in 1962. Visit the Church-Fortress of the Knights of Saint John of Jerusalem, one of the main attractions, and admire the medieval and Roman bridges now submerged beneath the Miño River. Dinner is on your own, followed by an overnight stay.
Departure from Palais del Rey, an enchanting historic village, for an easy stage of the Camino de Santiago that offers a cycling experience with gentle ups and downs. Along the way, you will pass through La Coruña and Melide, a strategic village where the Primitive Way meets the French Way coming from Oviedo. In Melide, you can discover a 14th-century stone cross, one of the oldest in Galicia, which welcomes pilgrims at the entrance to the town. Continuing on, you will arrive in Arzúa, a lively and welcoming town famous for its local cheese and traditional restaurants. Dinner is on your own, followed by an overnight stay.
The stage of the Camino de Santiago guides us through the lush greenery of Galicia to Santiago de Compostela. Travel Tour Overview
The Camino de Santiago by bike offers a unique and unforgettable experience. In ancient times, pilgrims would start from home to reach Santiago de Compostela, following one of the four main routes that crossed Europe and met in Roncesvalles. The most popular route is the Camino Francés, still heavily traveled today. We offer a section of this path in Spain, where pilgrims can stay in typical hostels and obtain their Credentials. Experiencing the Camino means immersing oneself in its rhythm and rituals, making the journey more important than the final destination. Along the way, you will meet other travelers, on foot or by bike, each with their own story and motivation, but all heading towards Santiago de Compostela. This tour is part of the EuroVelo 3 route, a trans-European cycling network spanning 45,000 km. Discover the adventure of the Camino de Santiago by bike and experience an unforgettable journey.
