Trip Itinerary
More information regarding the time and meeting point for the first/last day will be provided after the booking.
Castelluccio, one of the highest inhabited centers of the Apennines, you pedal immersed in the suggestive scenery of the vast karst basin formed by the Piano Grande, the Pian Piccolo, and the Piano Perduto, located at about 1300 meters in altitude and enclosed by a frame of reliefs from which the imposing "Coste del Vettore" rise, ascending in a single leap from the Pian Grande to the Cresta del Redentore (2449 m). The lentil fields stretching at the foot of Castelluccio burst into spectacular blooms in spring, with wild mustard, poppies, oxeye daisies, and cornflowers. From M. Cappelletta towards the Dogana valley, which opens northwards onto the Pian Piccolo, there is a small lake surrounded by vegetation typical of bog environments. On the right, the northwest slope of M. Macchialta (1751 m) is covered by the Macchia Cavaliera, an interesting patch of beech forest, spared from past logging, providing refuge for various species of animals, including the wolf.
